 About Bluelight Tec.

Bluelight Technology, Incorporated

Bluelight Technology, Inc. (herein “Bluelight”) is engaged in the business of providing handheld test and measurement (T&M) solutions for the telecommunications industry and commercial and governmental enterprises, which include wired and wireless telecom operators, Metro Ethernet service providers, Internet service providers, network equipment manufacturers, telecommunications infrastructure companies, cable service providers, medium to large size enterprise customers, military, and government agencies.

Bluelight is a US company incorporated in California and its headquarters is located in the heart of Silicon Valley at 2635 North 1st Street, San Jose, California, where the company’s main research and development for software and hardware are being carried out.

The company was founded in October of 2006 with the vision of offering the T&M industry   compact, easy to use, cost-effective, and productivity enhancing devices that help reduce the cost of network testing and service turn-up time.  The founders have set the vision of the company which is to be the Trendsetter of Network Test and Measurement for the T&M industry.

Since the inception of the company the founders have had different approach and outlook to solving complex T&M problems.  Unlike the approaches of some of the incumbent major suppliers whose products are heavy and bulky and expensive with many features that are often not fully utilized by the customers, they have taken an out-of-box thinking approach to meet the needs of the customers by providing a device that is ergonomic, small, light weight, easy to use at an affordable price with features that would allow users to perform serious tests reliably.

Our engineers are hard at work to provide up-to-date T&M solutions to our customers.  Their passion for producing superior quality products than the competitions has been the dominant motivator of their profession since the beginning of the company. As a result of almost two years of zealous efforts, the company introduced six products in June 2008 at the NextComm 08 Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Bluelight currently offers various configurations of 1 and/or 10 Gigabit Ethernet handheld testers collectively named BlueScope®.  The product models offered under BlueScope are: BL200A (single port 1GigE), BL400A (dual port 1GigE), BL1000A (single port 10GigE), BL1400A (single port 10GigE and dual port 1GigE), and BL2000A (dual port 10GigE).

As a US company, we believe contributing to the local economy is an important concern, especially in this time of grave economic climate in the US.  We are adamant about hiring the highly skilled T&M talents available in the US and contribute any way we can to create jobs in California and elsewhere in the US as we expand our operations throughout the US continent.

Although we are a small company, from the start the company founders had a grand vision of expanding markets throughout the world. This grand vision of creating export oriented products and services to global customers will enable a vast employment opportunity here at home.

In times of cost-conscience era some of our competitions are going or have already gone abroad to reduce the cost of manufacturing thereby reducing the cost of their products. We do not think such cost cutting measures neither translates to lower pricing nor benefits the customers.

On the contrary, we take tremendous pride in putting the “Made in the U.S.A.” label on all our products.  We have proven that efficient manufacturing processes and procedures with cohesive collaborations with our manufacturing partner here in Silicon Valley we can offer attractive pricings for our products without compromising quality.  Bluelight has a long term contract with a reputable local manufacturing firm in San Jose, CA, which has the capacity and manufacturing know-how to produce BlueScope product lines substantially at lower costs than the competitions.

In addition to the expansion in the US, we are currently expanding marketing efforts through strategic distribution partners in the Asia Pacific region including Australia and New Zealand, Canada, Caribbean, Europe, Middle-East, and South America.

Behind the grand vision of creating export oriented operations designing disruptively innovative products are the management team with extensive IT and Telecom industry experiences.  The current management team consists of James Jeong, CEO, Dr. Sang Baig, CTO, and Alex Kim, SVP Sales and Marketing.

James Jeong, CEO and Co-founder, has over 20 years of technical experience mostly in the development of Telecommunications products.  Prior to founding Bluelight, James had worked for Samsung, Maple Networks, Sunrise Telecom, and Ip Infusion where he was a key developer for designing products for these companies.  His technical specialties are in designing and developing Ethernet switches, IP routers, and network test and measurement equipment.  James has proven technology background and leadership in designing world-class products that are still in use throughout the world.

While developing a 1 and 10Gigabit Ethernet switch for a former employer he had faced many challenges of testing his product. He found existing Ethernet testers were out of size, bulky, expensive, cumbersome to use, and were missing features he needed to test his product.  In search of a solution to satisfy his needs, he came upon a moment of epiphany which he later manifested in BlueScope.

Realizing the sheer challenges of creating such product alone would be an impossible undertaking and could end up being just a pipe dream, he hired stellar talents with average of 10 years of experience in the areas of Ethernet, IP networking, and T&M industry.  For the next two years, James et al. went to work to create the world’s first Handheld Ethernet tester that would satisfy the insatiable demand for such product among customers.

Dr. Sang Baig, Technical Advisor and acting CTO, with a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, has been instrumental in providing guidance and leadership to stir the direction of the product development.  He holds several patents and has published numerous papers in leading journals relating to ASIC design, test, and reliability. Prior to working with Bluelight he was an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering Department of Hanyang University, Seoul, Korea.  During his tenure at the university he consulted Cisco Systems on complex mathematical models to measure and to validate the correctness of optical beams generated by Cisco’s optical switches.  Before his study in the US, he was a Staff Researcher for Samsung Electronics, Seoul, Korea.

Alex Kim, SVP. of Sales and Marketing, with over 25 years of technical, business development, customer service, sales, marketing, and international business experiences from leading software companies and startups in the US.  He brings a breath of experience and knowledge from his prior jobs as an IT consultant, entrepreneur, marketer, and sales executive. Notably, during his tenure of over fourteen years at Oracle Corporation, he was a key member of the team that designed and implemented landmark projects for the company, such as Oracle Clinical Trial, SQL/DS for IBM, Oracle for UNIX, Automatic Inventory Control system for the United States Internal Revenue Service. Addition to his technical prowess, he was instrumental in evangelizing Oracle products sold to the customers and business alliances in the Asia Pacific region through the company’s 15 subsidiaries.  His creative and innovative sales and marketing campaigns and programs enabled the subsidiaries take significant market shares away from the company’s competitors thereby increasing the revenues for Oracle.

Despite our innovative products that address the needs felt by the customers, as a new comer in the T&M industry, we understand fully the challenges we will face against better known T&M suppliers that have been the dominating the industry with similar products for many years.  To propagate the deployment of BlueScope to customers and to augment its sales distribution channels so as to accelerate the growth, we have established a strategic distribution relationship with Telecom Test Solutions (“TTS”) which has an excellent track record of providing best-in-breed telecom solutions to telecom operators and enterprise customers in Australia and New Zealand.  We believe that combining the strengths and expertise that complement each other’s domain is a potent ingredient for success in this challenging market. Our strengths in technical innovation and ingenuity for addressing customer network requirements, coupled with TTS’ energetic, results focused sales force, as well as its broad presence in these territories, will fuel our growth in the coming months and years. Effective immediately; all sales in Australia and New Zealand will be directed to TTS, and through this close partnership we will significantly lower the cost of network testing and help reduce the network service turn-up time for our mutual customers.

As a new comer in the T&M industry with the mission of being the trendsetter of innovation in the industry we welcome the challenges and opportunities that are ahead of us. To achieve our mission and business objectives, we are willing to do our utmost and go extra miles to work with our customers in meeting their network testing needs.
