VB-230 Data Sheet The VideoBridge generator is a cost-effective and fault-free test bed for evaluating how various bitrates affect his existing xDSL or fiber network infrastructure and to provide a continous RTP "beacon" multicast for reference purposes.

A further use of the generator module is as a guaranteed fault-free beacon channel. In a real-life turnaround scenario often found in IPTV systems the incoming signal arrives from satellite or cable. The input signal can thus contain artefacts that have nothing to do with the IP network. This leads to ambiguity when trying to measure downstream in the IP network. Did the network or the satellite introduce the errors I am now seeing? This ambiguity is avoided completely by making use of the VideoBridge generator module.

The signal is generated in the head-end where you know it to be fault free. The use is further enhanced by RTP protocol generation inside the generator module. This has the effect of adding a packet sequence counter to each IP frame played out. By monitoring this packet counter at strategic points in the network the operator gains exact knowledge of potential out-of-order/dropped packet events in his network.

Each generator module runs a built-in web server, providing for easy remote management. Initial setup is performed through RS-232 or TELNET. Central management and alarm reporting is provisioned for through the VBC controller server software.
